King Pine Cardboard Box Derby
The event takes place on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at NOON Like an old fashioned soapbox derby this snow even is a crowd pleaser every year! The rules according to King Pine's website is to... "Build a cardboard box racer (for two or four racers) with your own theme and bring your own theme music (CDs preferred) and race down our special racecourse. Racers must be built entirely out of cardboard (no wood or metal allowed). Boxes may be held together with tape, glue or stitched. Contestants must wear helmets." The day includes: ● Registration: 12:00pm ● Time: Inspection and style judging at 12:00pm, Race begins at 1:00pm ● Location: Base of the Open Slope ● Awards: After completion of race at base of open slope. Prizes will be awarded for style, speed and durability ● Forms Needed: Registration form and waiver needed. ● Entrance Fee: $5 entrance fee per cardboard box. This event has been going on for 25 years! Folks have been coming from far and wide to snowshoe, cross country ski or drive from Inn to Inn along MWV Ski Touring's 45 KM network of trails! They have come to experience the warm hospitality, wonderful scenery and unbelievable chocolate treasures at various venues along the trails. This is a chocoholic's dream and indulging on this day is guilt free because you have it's only once a year! Snowshoe or cross country ski the trails to enjoy chocolate treats prepared from scratch using new and time tested recipes. Most folks return year after year to enjoy the Chocolate Festival.
